iaedp Approved Supervisor: Sarah Lowenthal, MD CEDS-S
Dr. Lowenthal is a Board-Certified Family Physician, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and iaedp™-Approved Supervisor (CEDS-S) who has been treating individuals with eating disorders for the past 12 years. Her practice is located in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers expert medical care for individuals with clinical eating disorders and eating-related issues at the outpatient, IOP, PHP and Residential levels. She is a former Board Member and Medical Liaison to iaedp SF Bay Area Chapter, a consultant for Bay Area Eating Disorder Associates (BAEDA), a member of iaedp and Academy for Eating Disorders as well as a frequent speaker on topics related to the medical aspects of eating disorders.
Dr. Lowenthal’s mission is to provide compassionate and individualized treatment tailored to each unique individual. She is drawn to this work in part because of its interdisciplinary nature and strives to continue learning from each treatment team member’s voice and expertise.
As a former teacher, Dr. Lowenthal is passionate about education and mentorship. She provides supervision and mentoring for clinicians at all levels of training from pre-med/pre-RN to post graduate RN/MD/DO/APN/PA. She also provides staff training at the IOP, PHP and Residential levels as well as school-based education for school psychologists, school nurses and other educational staff.
