In this work, the author’s intent is to talk about food as an element that creates bonds, through all its social, cultural, political, personal and anthropological representations and food that becomes bond through its symbols, its intrinsic content linked to sensations, thoughts and therefore to emotions and reactions. In fact, food presents itself as a real language and the relationship that is established with it becomes a metaphor for the relationship with others, as well as with ourselves. We therefore speak of food through a perspective that allows us to grasp the emotional values that lie behind the “representation” of self, one’s body and one’s tastes. In fact, food revolves so much of what is part of our daily life, for better or for worse, in pleasure and in damnation, in its cultural and spiritual aspects, in marketing and in its most macabre and dramatic representations when it fails. The origins and meanings of objects that are present in our life are also explored even when there would be no need, such as the scale, and terms also used by the medical world and which become unquestionable parameters to such an extent as to determine the use or not a nasogastric tube or a bariatric surgery. Taking inspiration from these considerations, the volume offers a profound reflection on the problems inherent in both the relationship with food and the relationship with one’s own body image, always using clear and accessible language. in marketing and in its most macabre and dramatic representations when it fails.
